Because what's the point in them being happy now if they're going to be sad later? The answer is, of course, because they are going to be sad later
Life in and but itself is nothing but that which people expect. Where people falsely place their beliefs for reasons on conditions that are irrelevant. Emphasis should be perhaps on traits rather than situation, or if the case calls for it vice versa.
But when one expects time to be the better indicator rather than the actual application of one's emotion, that is perhaps the worst fallacy. When you actually finally decides to listen to your own heart and then have it thrown back at you.
Imagine how that's shaped someone's path as it is.
On a side note, continental philosophy is a pain to read despite being one myself.
